Hot! Hot! Hot!

Whew! It got soooo hot today - mid-80s and it is just now noon. It is also very humid. All the storm windows and inside windows went down. I live in a house of glass - so this is no small feat. (It was one of the things that I LOVED about this house - and my husband hated was the massive amount of large windows!) Most people around here have had their air on for weeks - but we have enjoyed the cool mornings and evenings and endured a few hours of warmth in the afternoons around dinner time. It must be the windows but we seem to have a lot of cross-ventilation that creates a breezy atmosphere, not to mention the ceiling fans on at various speeds different times of the day. I didn't want to close the windows until I knew they would be shut for a while, because of their age and the sheer quantity of them, it is no small feat. This morning I knew I was in trouble when I broke a sweat scrubbing the toilet! So, we are bracing ourselves for the heat. I am thinking that it might be a nice week to take a trip to the gulf coast. What is the weather like where you are? (Don't forget to tell me where you are!)

  1. What I wouldn't do for a little heat right now! This morning we woke up to what will hopefully be our finaly frost of the year. Which is quite normal for the Pacific Northwest. It's been warm (ish) in the afternoons, in the high 50's. I can't wait for summer! I love the heat!

  2. Wea re on the gulf coast of florida. It's around 80's, but breezy. it is cool enough most days to keep the air off, except for the fact that it is so humid. makes the house damp, so I close up and throw on the air to get the moisture out. =( I love open windows!

P.S. Windows create more heat in a house because they act as a magnifier frome the unlight. So if you ahve a lot of windows, that's why you ahve a bit of a warm spell in the afternoon.evening. But havine lots of windows is better in my opinion, because you get to look at God's creation!

  6. I am about 40 minute from Coffee Mom, but the funny thing is that sometimes we have totally different weather. It was frosty here this morning as well, but gorgeous this afternoon- jacket still needed though. I was 30 minutes away at my SIL at noon, and it hailed, then snowed there. WEIRD.

  7. BEAUTIFUL weather here in WV. Unlike Kate though, I don't have the Gnats in my part of the county, so that is way good. The down part was I was in a library room giving a bunch of stir crazy teenagers their test! But DQ was sure nice afterwards.

  8. It has been perfect here - 70s blue skies the whole deal AND no gnats (but I know they're a-comin')
But guess what - we are going from 78 - 80 degrees to potential snow on Thursday. Too crazy.
