Guilty Pleasure

This post was spurred by a conversation thread going on at the most terrific Radical-Christian-Unschooling Yahoo group. The particular thread was about television and movies and how you handle letting your kids make choices and/or regulating it for your family and in your home. It really got me thinking. I was posting my thoughts, and without warning, I admitted, publicly that I like Will Ferrell. My brother talked my husband and I into watching Old School, which quite frankly was over the top for me, but then when Elf came out I fell completely in love with his humor and antics. Since then I really liked him in Kicking & Screaming and Stranger than Fiction. I really wanted to see Talladega Nights, but when I read the review I had some concerns that it would be over the top as well, and haven't seen it yet. Will Ferrell movies are my guilty pleasure. What's yours? Post about it on your blog - shout it out - let the whole world know! Don't forget to leave me a comment with the link to your "guilty pleasure" post!

  2. I like Will Ferrel also. Tav and Buster drug me along to see Talladega Nights. It was actually pretty funny, in a stupid sort of way. It isn't that bad, I would say go ahead and watch it. I also love Jack Black.

  3. Since returning from our marathon vacation, working, doing household stuff, laundry, packing up camping gear and blogging about vacation, I haven't had a lot of time for guilty pleasures.

My guilty pleasure is Westerns! They are my favorite genre, well that and war movies! Once for Mother's Day, my beloved asked me what movie I'd like to see after dinner. Without hesitation I hollered,
    "GLADIATOR!"
Don't get me wrong, romantic comedies are nice and I DO enjoy them, but I guess I'm kind of a GUY at heart when it comes to movies! My husband says I'm the perfect date!

  4. Julie, Go ahead and watch those W.F. movies. My family loved T. Nights. Of course my hubby appreciated the humor greatly, as he attends NASCAR races. My greatest pleasure is drooling over Johnny Depp as I watch his movies

  5. I think Will Ferrel is funny too, though I was warned that Talladega Nights went too far- I think I was told it was pretty sacri religious. Haven't watched it myself though.

I will have to think about my guilty pleasure movie.

  8. Ok Jewls, I'm not really a Will Ferrel fan :) You knew I had to be different. I love Smokey and the Bandit and a more recent movie would be Little Miss Sunshine, my gosh the language was SOOO there but the movie was awesome I loved it!
