Love is in the Air

In Texas we are being inundated with a swarm of these "love bugs" that are driven to reproduce. In case you've never had the pleasure of encountering these insects, you aren't missing anything. It was so bad the other day here that they were splatting against my windshield like it was raining. The worst part about the horrible things is that they are filled with some sort of glue-like substance that takes the paint off of your car if you don't clean them off quickly after they splat. My car currently looks like it has a black peppered mustache. I have no love for these nasty little things, whose name I say with disdain for our culture's confusion between sex and love which gave these evil little bugs their name!

  1. They were all over Florida in September and October also... They were AWFUL!!! Especially when you are trying to clean the porch...

  2. Be careful when you wipe them off of your arm... they STINK when they squish on ya.

And they are attracted to light colors... like our back deck and white railing. Yuck-o.

Could be worse... It could be crickets!!! Puddles of crickets... like what happens near Dallas.

  3. HA HA HA! In Minnesota we have Boxelder Bugs and Asian Beetles -- nasty creatures that they are!!

    Quick!! Wash your car!!

    Blessings, Beckie :o)

  4. Ok we are in our second round of love bug season. But I got to tell ya a funny...
We were camping in May and they were EVERYWHERE around our RV because it is white. Tessa caught 2 on her finger and squealed with glee that she had a new pet and his name was Gerald! She then proceeded to ask if we had a place for him in the RV! Only a hs kid, eh?

Awaiting your words......
