I am sorry that I haven't publicized this very well - it seems even all of our contestants haven't voted yet! I have been sick for a couple of days now and hoping I can keep snot from running down my face long enough to get this note up here!

Quirky Quote Contest 2008

It is that time again for the Quirky Quote Contest - 2008 Edition. It was almost a year ago when we had our last one. This year's prize is a $15 Amazon gift card. The rules are pretty much the same:

1. Post your favorite quote to your blog by midnight on Friday, February 22nd, in an entry entitled "Quirky Quote Contest Entry" and link to it using "Mr. Linky" below.
   Your quote may be from anywhere - a song, movie, book, famous speech. The quote can be political, religious, politically incorrect, and otherwise controversial - but please keep it family friendly. (Hey - my kids and friends kids occasionally read this blog! They are usually bored to tears - but sometimes they read and even comment!) The quotes do not have to be quirky as the contest name suggests.
   
2. PLEASE READ OTHER ENTRIES PRIOR TO SUBMISSION - the second submission of same quote will not be eligible.
   
3. I will host a voting time from February 23rd - 27th – so come back and vote for your favorite quotes.
4. Post on your blog and put up a button if you like about the “contest” and tell others to come and enter - Here is the link to grab a button or banner on Flickr. If you need help with this, please let me know.
   
5. You may enter this contest twice - every other contest says only once, but why be like the rest! So a two quote limit for you - but please post them as separate entries for my sake!
   
6. Contest winner will be announced on Thursday, February 28th - which is also my birthday! I decided it would be pretty cool to give a prize on my birthday.
   

Voting will be a little different this time around - as the poll I am using will restrict one vote for every IP address. So, be thoughtful and careful when voting time comes around. Our winner last year was Karen who received a template tweaking that is still looking good.

I also cannot stress strongly enough how important it is for you to link to your actual post where your quote is, and not just your blog in general. It is very difficult to weed through a lot of other posts to find your entries. Quirky Quote Contest 2008 - Get Ready

In the next couple of weeks, I am going to announce the 2008 Quirky Quote Contest. Get ready to share your favorite quotes, words of wisdom, poems, or whatever creative words strike your fancy. I am especially excited that I made my own button for this contest, and am working on a banner for those of you so inclined to put one on your blog.
I have always loved quotes, and keep a little notebook of them written down. A few years ago, I came up with a deep thought of my own that said, "Be yourself, I'm already taken" and low and behold, the other day I read an almost exact quote from Oscar Wilde that says "Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." Who knew that me and Oscar Wilde were kindred spirits!
Anyway, get your quotes ready, and look for the big announcement when I start taking submissions.
I am trying to come up with a great prize - I was thinking a Starbucks or Amazon gift card. Any ideas?

My friend Tina sent this to me this morning. It was too good not to share. I think it is a life skill I learned very early in life, and while I don't do it perfectly, it is the reason that I am not laying in my bed hiding behind closed curtains like so many other women in my family. Wow! So many of you have entered the Quirky Quote Qontest - 57 entries! That well exceeded my greatest expectations. I am so excited to have so many of you here - and hope you will all show up to vote. I tried to be fair - and if you see that somehow I have missed you, please notify me via email at julientexas at sbcglobal dot net. All quotes were cut and pasted directly from the blog of the contestant - only adding attributions when necessary.

Make sure to read through the list of all the quotes in their entirety carefully - and then proceed to the poll at the bottom of this post. Please feel free to cast 2 votes each day - but please not any more. This will go on the honor system. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
After hours of entering the quotes into the Poll Daddy maker - I was only able t0 have 30 quotes per poll - therefore there are two here. It should not be difficult to compare the 2 in order to find a winner. The poll would also only show part of the quotes so make sure to go to this post to read them in full. The quote numbers on the poll should correspond with that list as well as the Mister Linky in the original contest entry post.

A Contest for All Bloggers

When Goofy Girl got my template looking all spiffy, I got so excited that I wanted to share the love. I talked it over with her and she is giving me a price break on a jazzy new template for the winner of my very first ever contest! My new friend Fatty inspired the idea because I found that she collects quotations too - we'll have a quotation contest!

Thoughts for My Secret Pal

I got a special package in the mail today from my Secret Sister. It was a little booklet called "Thoughts for My Secret Pal" and all throughout the little book are awesome quotes. I don't know if she read somewhere that I love to collect quotes - or if this was just a lucky guess. Either way - I appreciated it so much! Thank you Secret Sister!
