Back Update - Or Up Backdate

I talked to my friend Carol yesterday who was wondering if I was in a wheelchair! No, not really, but I think it must've sounded like my back was worse than it was. It was just painful to move - but has seemed to ease up over the last couple of days - so I am good to go. I am up, and moving around - no bedrest for me! I even spent three hours yesterday morning helping to decorate the fellowship hall at church for the youth Valentine's Banquet. I can feel a little soreness when I move my left leg a certain way - but I just don't move it that way! Thanks for the prayers!

This is the day that the Lord has made!

The girls and I sang as a trio in church this morning. It was the first time since I can't remember when and I was nervous. After church we went to my mother-in-laws. She made a nice lunch. Unfortunately my lower back was hurting so badly I could barely stand to sit and visit. At one point, I stretched my feet out on the couch and played Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Kullen's Gameboy while I waited for my back to feel better. I hope that it eases up through the week. I was hurting so much last night that Travis tried to put me on "bed rest". Ha ha! This place would fall apart. It wasn't too difficult to make the hours drive, but when I tried to get out of the car, I could barely stand. Please pray, because I don't do sedentary very well.
Another issue for prayer is our neighborhood. It seems like a nice, quiet, Mayberry kind of town. But, the other day, a neighbor's storm door was shot with a BB gun, and it shattered the glass. I heard it from across the street, and ran over to see what was going on. He came out and we walked back and forth in front of his house - and noticed it had been shot at least five times across the front. Then this morning in Sunday school, someone said that the door of the little BBQ restaurant in our town had been kicked in. THEN, I went to my friend DeeDee's blog, and heard her van break-in story. I know we live in a fallen world, but sometimes it is more apparent than others.

Geeky Gift

I have never been the kind of woman that provoked men to pen poetry, bring bouquets, or sing love songs. Mine has been more a romantic life full of odd limericks, bundles of weeds that give me hayfever, and love songs like Guns 'n Roses "Welcome to the Jungle" (YES, my husband used to sing it to me - and it is his ringtone on my phone - as it never fails to get my attention!). However, tonight my hubby did give me one fantabulously useful, and extremely exciting gift - he installed Microsoft Windows 2007 - which is going to go with my new Windows Vista - as soon as it arrives. It has tons of cool features. It appears I will have plenty of time to play with it while I am sedentary with the pain in my back from bowling earlier today. (see below post for crrraaaccck reference!)

Bowling & Birthday

We went to a birthday party at the bowling alley this afternoon. One of my daughters thought it would be funny to take pictures of me from behind! I thought I would share them just so you could see my excellent *ahem* form, meaning my bowling form and not the 20 pounds I gained since I moved here distributed nicely around my waist! Geesh!
Did you ever notice that bowling alleys are one of the noisiest places on the planet? You cannot have a sane thought - or even say anything to the person next to you without shouting at the top of your lungs!?!
I do like to go bowling. Although, one trip down the lane to release my ball, and I bent over and felt something in my hip "crrr---rraaaacc--kkkk". It still doesn't feel quite right - but it isn't immobilizing! It is probably rebelling about the 20 extra pounds it has to maneuver when I attempt to make such unnatural movements!
I wasn't planning on bowling when we went, but ended up bowling and having a blast. The birthday cake had these dark purple flowers, the result of which were these lovely dark purple tongues. Notice the varying shades and see who ate the most icing!
Both of my scores were in the high 80s. I bowled down a lot of 9 pins - but never could seem to get down the last pin. I got one strike and maybe two spares. Not bad - not bad at all!
