Antioxidants, Anyone?

Oh yes we did.
I think we picked about 13 pounds between us.
I ate like a little girl, pulling warm berries off the bushes as the rain clouds came rolling in, and showered us before we left. I did offer to pay for our consumption. I seriously could not help myself. We were kindly told that was part of the whole berry picking experience.
Adult reservation is highly overrated.
I had a moment in Maine with Sal today.
I can predict the future. I see blueberry cobbler, blueberry muffins, blueberry pancakes and blueberry jam.

  1. Oh I want some :)

I was going to make muffins the other day until I realized there wasn't enough in the freezer. I buy those small bags of organic ones, how cool to get them fresh.

    Enjoy!

  6. Oh yummy!! Makes me want to go pick berries. I really need to get a canner, we found a berry farm up near Martinsburg last summer. Kelly, Laura and I picked strawberries and cherries and lots of them. We then took them to my house and the girls, Ruth and I made jam. Laura and Ruth were pitting cherries together across from each other and I look and Ruth's gown and she was splatter painted from Laura's cherries. She had a blast and the girls really enjoyed it too. I keep thinking I'll put together a group of the girls and get some of our experienced women of the church and have a canning party. I think everyone should know how to at least make jam or jelly. It's fairly easy!! And makes for great loved and inexpensive gifts!!!

  8. Oh Yum! I love blueberry muffins.

Blueberries for Sal is one of my favorite children's books. My grandparents owned (my Grandma still does although she has handed it over for someone else to care for) blueberry fields in Maine. I remember being in them and not understanding WHY everyone knew I had been eating the blueberries. HA! I was 5 when we moved west so it was before then.
